Hemp Oil? Cure for pain? Cure for cancer?

When you are in pain or suffering, you will try just about anything. I would much rather use hemp oil than use prescription drugs. This video is not a high budget video, but it will give you some good information and make you think….maybe even give you hope. The hemp oil they are talking about in this video is not the oil you find in health food stores.

The Importance of Probiotics.

When I was having some health challenges I knew that it had something to do with my stomach and intestines. With the addition of adding probiotics into my body, I started feeling better within days.

Our gut is the healthline of our bodies. Our stomach and 80 percent of your immune system is located in your digestive system, and a robust, well-functioning immune system is your number one defense  against all disease. Maintaining a healthy gut flora is far more important than you might think.

At any point in time there are about 500 different species of bacteria living inside you – totaling about sixty trillion bacteria. Some of these bacteria are referred to as “good,” and some as “bad”. The key to good health is not to completely eradicate bad bacteria, but to maintain a healthy balance. Things like medications, diet, diseases, and your environment can upset that balance. The most common way to upset the balance of good and bad bacteria is the use of antibiotics. The good bacteria in your gut are very susceptible to damage caused by antibiotics.

When good bacteria is lacking, a number of bacteria-related health problems such as digestive upset, headaches, sluggishness, irritability, cadidiasis, and even anxiety can ensue. Good bacteria in the gut is important to keep the immune system primed to more effectively fight infection from invading pathogenic bacteria. (1)

What are Probiotics?

The term probiotics comes from the Greek word “for life.”  Anti means “contrary or against.”  So antibiotics means “against life.” Antibiotics kill bacteria…the bad and the good. It’s kind of like the movie line that says: ‘Kill them all and we will sort them out later!’

Most probiotics are bacteria, similar to those that occur in your gut naturally. Probiotics help keep our flora in our intestines in balance. Probiotics are essential to a fully-functioning immune system, and can be increased or restored through the intake of certain food products and supplements.

Symptoms of lack of good bacteria.

The Addition of Probiotics Are Crucial For:

  • Protection against over-growth of other microorganisms that could cause disease.
  • Promotes mental health.
  • Helps reduce diarrhea and diaper rash.
  • Helps digestion of food and absorption of nutrients.
  • Builds Immune System.
  • Helps IBS sufferers.
  • Reduces negative affects of taking many types of antibiotics.
  • Aids in preventing and treating colon inflammation.
  • Reduces lactose intolerance.
  • Helps prevent yeast infections, candidasis, and vaginitis.
  • Aids in digesting food.
  • Helps correct and heal digestive disorders.
  • Good Flora promotes the prevention of halitosis.
  • Promotes anti-tumor and anti-cancer activity in the body.

How to protect you gut and bring probiotics into your diet:

I have always added probiotic supplements to my diet but then learned of the different ways of incorporating foods that build healthy flora into my body.

Fermented foods are the most effective source for providing probiotics for your system. Yogurt, sauerkraut, Kefir, Kombacha, buttermilk, and other fermented foods are the best way to get these healthy bacteria into your body.

Kefir: One of the best and least expensive ways to get healthy bacteria into your diet is to obtain raw milk and convert it to kefir. The bacteria and beneficial yeast in kefir can actually colonize the intestinal tract, and this makes it far superior to yogurt. For directions to making your own, go here.

Goat Milk Products: .Goat’s milk and cheese are particularly high in probiotics like thermophillus, bifudus, bulgaricus and acidophilus.

Yogurt: Look for brands made from goat milk that has been infused with extra forms of probitoics like lactobacillus or acidophilus. Some of your store bought yogurts contain sugars including fructose, corn starch, and modified corn starch. There are other questionable ingredients added for flavor and consistency. Homemade yogurt is much better for you and easy to make. I have to add honey or fruit to mine to sweeten it up. Homemade yogurt that is fermented for 24 hours, as recommended in the book ‘Breaking the Vicious Cycle‘, will have an average concentration of 3 billion cfu of yogurt. What does this mean? Well, if you were to eat a small bowl  of 24 hour fermented homemade yogurt, you would receive 1.5 trillion beneficial bacteria – 100 times more bacteria than a 15 billion capsule of supplemented probiotics. Go here for a recipe for crock pot yogurt.

Sauerkraut: Last year, BBC News reported that sauerkraut could cure the avian flu (bird flu) and other studies show it reduces the risk of breast cancer. If buying commercial sauerkraut, choose high quality from the refrigerated section of your store. Best choice: make it yourself. Here is just one recipe.

Kimchi: An Asian form of pickled sauerkraut, kimchi is an extremely spicy and sour fermented cabbage, typically served alongside most meals in Korea. Besides from beneficial bacteria, Kimchi is also a great source of beta-carotene, calcium, iron and vitamins A, C, B1 & B2. Kimchi is one of the best probiotic foods you can add to your diet, assuming you can handle the spice, of course.

In conclusion:

The owner of a health food store told me at one time, that if she could only choose one supplement to take, it would be probiotics.  As a part of your overall health care, I would say that getting probiotics in your diet should be one of your top priorities. It is a daily addition to mine.

Be happy and healthy.

How To Stop A Panic/Anxiety Attack.

I have had some challenges with anxiety attacks. Although at the time it was happening, I didn’t realize  what it was. I thought for sure I had something dreadfully wrong with me.

As I have learned more about our bodies, our mind, and our emotions, I could see that what I was suffering from was not some mystery ailment that was sure to kill me, but what I was challenged with were anxiety attacks. These would come on even when I was asleep and wake me with a jolt! Our bodies are wonderful fortune tellers and can tell you physically when something emotionally is out of whack.

For me, it was a culmination of things happening over the past year. I thought that by putting a smile on my face and thinking positively then all my stresses would just dissipate. My body was there to tell me that what I was doing was not working.

There are many natural things that you can do for Panic/Anxiety attacks. If you are home, a cold shower does wonders. Sounds to simple, but you should try it.

Yoga and meditation are wonderful aids to helping with this challenge.

The most important thing to know is:

#1) You are not alone. There are others out there with the same challenge. You do not have some mystery disease.

#2) Don’t let it control you. If it can cause you fear then it is controlling you and it will makes the symptoms worse.

#3) Take the fear away by educating yourself on it. I feel most comfortable reading forums where real everyday people share what they go through and what has or has not helped them. Earth Clinic is one of my favorite web places to go to when I am looking into health matters.

Please watch this simple little video below. It really help me. I must say that I do not know much about the company that produced this video so this isn’t an endorsement for them. I am sharing it because it helped me.

Watch a tumor being healed in less then three minutes.

I believe in the power of energy. We can have an effect on our own health with either the positive or negative energy that we feed it. We can also effect others by our energy.

How about being healed by energy? Maybe you would believe it if you saw it with your own eyes. In this video you will see a ‘surgery’ on a tumor. This video is an exert of a speech made by Gregg Braden. I have not watched the whole video but after watching the exert, I wanted to share it with you. It will really make you thin!

We could say that it is healing of the future but really this is for now!

What is your fruit sticker telling you?

When washing your fruit and veggies…(you do wash your fruit and veggies right?!) Anyways, you will notice that your produce has those little stickies that are placed there to identify the item and the cost. BUT that is not all that is on those little stickies!

That little sticky holds the PLU code (price look up code) This code also tells you how your produce was grown. By reading the PLU code, you can tell if the fruit was organically grown,  produced with chemical fertilizers, fungicides, and herbicides ,or genetically modified!

7 out of 10 items in grocery store shelves contain ingredients that have been genetically modified. That doesn’t bother some people but for others that are trying to improve their lives by getting the most out of real foods, gmo (genetically modified) is not a choice that they desire. So let’s have a quick little lesson on the codes of your food and you can make your own very wise choices.

1) PLU stickers that have 4 digits and begin with a “3″ or “4″: produce is conventionally grown. This means that this produce was sprayed with weed killers and chemical pesticides.

2) PLU stickers that have 5-digits and start with “8″: produce was genetically engineered (man intervened by manipulating the genes to produce a larger or brighter colored food). This produce may have been chemically treated.

3) PLU stickers that have 5-digits and start with “9″: produce was raised organically. You can be sure that this produce was not treated with any chemicals.

Examples
4139: Conventional Granny Smith apple
94139: Organic Granny Smith
84139: Genetically Modified Granny Smith

Also of the 12 most contaminated foods, 6 are fruits: apples, strawberries, peaches, domestic nectarines, imported grapes and domestic blueberries. These items you may want to buy from your local food co-0p or an organic farmer.

The vegetables least likely to test positive for pesticides are onions, sweet corn, asparagus, sweet peas, eggplant, cabbage, sweet potatoes and mushrooms.(1)

So what are we to do? If at all possible garden, buy organic in the supermarket, or buy from your ‘trusty’ local farmer. If you buy from a conventional store, make sure you wash and soak your produce. On apples and cucumbers…peel.  I use food grade hydrogen peroxide(3%)  to soak my produce in. If you scoot on over to the ‘Super Mom‘ blog, she gives you ways to make your own produce wash solutions.

Thanks for reading! I hope you are happy, healthy, and make wise food decisions!

Colloidal Silver (part 1)

Near and dear to my heart is Colloidal Silver. I personally believe that every person in your family should have a bottle of Colloidal Silver in cases of illness or emergency.

As I personally have dealt with ugly bacteria while being overseas, Colloidal Silver has been my ‘secret weapon.’ When my daughter was struggling with eczema. I had her spray Colloidal Silver on her rash.  She excitedly called me the next day stating that her patch of eczema was gone! She told me that if she would have known the drastic results of using the C.S., she would have taken a before and after photo.
There are many many people in the U.S. who have  bacteria in their bodies and  have been prescribed triple doses of various antibiotics with the results of not being healed but being sent home hopeless and told to take over the counter acid reducing drugs to make their pain bearable. This is not quality of life.

Let’s look at some history about Colloidal Silver
The knowledge of Colloidal Silver properties dates back to ancient civilizations. Ancient cultures, such as those of Greece and Rome, used Silver as the material to make kitchen utensils or water recipients, as silver  helped retard the growth of microorganisms that spoil food and drinks.

Early American pioneers learned that if they put a silver dollar in a jug of milk, it would  last longer without spoiling. They also kept their silverware (and silver and copper coins) in  water barrels to prevent bacteria and algae.

By the early 1900’s the antibacterial colloidal silver became the choice of medical practitioners. It proved to be enormously effective against infectious organisms and extremely safe to use, without the negative side-effects associated with drugs.
The use of silver as a medicine was widespread until World War II when antibiotics became the standard treatment for infections. (3)
Do you ever wonder why the tradition of giving silver baby spoons, silver baby rattles and silver teething rings exists?  Because mouthing silver helped babies survive.

In 834, the German obstetrician F. Crede administered silver nitrate to the eyes of newborn infants, virtually eliminating the incidence of disease which caused blindness.

The greatest benefit of Colloidal Silver is it’s support for the immune system.

Why do we need Colloidal Silver today?
1) Microorganisms are becoming extremely resistant to pharmaceutical antibiotics, diminishing their effectiveness. Although the Centers for Disease Control is working to develop new antibiotics and other treatments to keep pace with antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria, infectious organisms can adapt quickly.

For this reason, Colloidal Silver is now in resurgence as an important alternative to the use of antibiotics; in addition to its proven effectiveness against a wide range of germs, due to its way of working, it prevents the creation of microorganism resistance .This is the reason why the use of Silver as an antibacterial agent in Medicine has been increasing lately.

2) Antibiotics can upset the intestinal flora and increase the risk of various gastrointestinal diseases and disorders.

3) Too much antibiotic use can cause a yeast infection called candidiasis from the fungus Candida albicans, according to MedlinePlus. Antibiotics can decrease the number of protective bacteria and change the normal balance between bacteria and yeast within the intestine and vaginal environment.

4) In the CDC’s weekly bulletin, there is a report: 58% of antibiotic prescriptions given to kids and pre-teens during medical office visits are for conditions for which antibiotics are not necessary.

5) COLLOIDAL SILVER is an amazing natural and safe alternative to antibiotics.

I don’t want you to stop reading here! Continue on to (part 2) to learn more about Colloidal Silver and it’s uses. Also learn how you can make it yourself!

What Are You Rubbing Into Your Body?

In one day I may use these items on a regular bases: deodorant, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, toothpaste, and hand lotion. In addition to those I might use: mascara, eye liner, blush, lip gloss, and foundation. My husband may use shaving cream, face cream, chap stick, and some of the other items that I have already listed. Sound pretty typical doesn’t it? We could  be using six to ten body care items in one day. This doesn’t even include insect repellent, diaper cream, tanning lotion, hair gels, sun screen, and other items that some may use.

My husband and I are very conscious about what we eat. No toxic foods for this couple! So if we, like so many other health conscious people, won’t put toxins in our bodies, then why do we put them on our bodies? Our skin is our largest organ, what we put on it goes onto it goes into us! After cleaning up in the morning, we could have plastered 30 or more toxins onto our bodies!

Most people believe that if a product is for sale in a  store then it would have to be safe for us to use. Unfortunately this is not the case. In the U.S. the FDA does not review or approve the vast majority of products or ingredients before they go on the skin care market. More than 500 products sold in the U.S. contain ingredients banned in cosmetics in Japan, Canada or the European Union (EWG 2007b).

Remember the baby pigs and huge toads floating in big glass jars in eighth-grade science class? Most likely the fluid preserving them was formaldehyde, which is added to deodorant and nail polish.Have you ever thought what your car antifreeze and your shampoo have in common? That’s right Propylene Glyco.

A new analysis of lead in lipstick conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reveals that the problem of lead in lipstick is worse and more widespread than previously reported. The new study found lead in 400 lipsticks tested by the agency, at widely varying levels of up to 7.19 parts per million (ppm) — more than twice the levels reported in a previous FDA study.

Untitled

Product tests released by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics in March 2009 found two chemicals linked to cancer, 1,4-dioxane and formaldehyde, in dozens of bath products for babies and kids, including Sesame Street character brands and even the iconic “pure and gentle” Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. None of the products tested listed 1,4-dioxane or formaldehyde on the label.

SO THE GOOD NEWS

You do have resources! EWG’s Skin Deep site allows you to put in the name of your product to see if it is healthy for you and your family.

Also The Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 (H.R.2359), introduced on June 24, 2011. Under this law:

Provisions of the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 include:

  • Phase-out of ingredients linked to cancer, birth defects and developmental harm;
  • Creation of a health-based safety standard that includes protections for children, the elderly, workers and other vulnerable populations;
  • Elimination of labeling loopholes by requiring full ingredient disclosure on product labels and company websites, including salon products and the constituent ingredients of fragrance;
  • Worker access to information about unsafe chemicals in personal care products;
  • Required data-sharing to avoid duplicative testing and encourage the development of alternatives to animal testing; and
  • Adequate funding to the FDA Office of Cosmetics and Colors so it has the resources it needs to provide effective oversight of the cosmetics industry.

How To Use Coconut Oil

So how do you incorporate Coconut Oil into your life? Some people just take a spoonful straight…more power to them! LOL. I love the taste but need to put it in something. My husband makes his eggs with coconut oil EVERY morning. I need a bit more variety in my meals. I put mine in my oatmeal, or spread on toast. Even add it to a hot drink. I love to bake with it and it’s amazing on popcorn.  Below I list some ways to incorporate coconut oil into your diet.

IN FOOD:
Use in replacement of where you use other oils.
Great of popcorn!
In Oatmeal.
In smoothies.
In hot drinks.
On toast.
In candy making.
Mix in peanut/almond butter.
Mix in yogurt…stir well.
Use in baking!
Melted and poured over veggies.
Makes great muffins!
Put it on potatoes…yum!
Coconut whip cream!
Any recipe that calls for oil.

ON YOUR BODY:

Massage anywhere on your body for softer, clearer skin.
Great moisturizer.
Make a body scrub with it.
Sunscreen!
Make up remover.
Condition your hair!
Homemade chapstick.
Toothpaste…mix with baking soda.
Use on minor scrapes and cuts as natural antibiotic.

I think that lotions, creams, scrubs, and any baked goods with coconut oil would make great gifts ideas!

Never microwave coconut oil to melt it! Microwaves destroy all of the beneficial properties. Instead, place the desired amount of coconut oil in a glass jar or measuring cup. Place the glass in a bowl of hot water. It will melt fairly quickly.

Coconut Oil

When I decided to start doing some research on coconut oil, I found it on sites  from  cooking to to beauty to health and even body building.

I have used coconut oil for cooking, sunscreen, moisturizer for hair and body.

I have heard of people using it for weight loss, but I was really surprised to lean about the studies they are doing to show how coconut oil is helpful in the treatment of Alzheimer’s.

Coconut Oil has in the past been labeled one of the ‘bad’ oils. This is because previous testing done with coconut oil was done with the use of hydrogenated coconut oil and not virgin coconut oil which has not been chemically treated. Partial hydrogenation creates dreaded trans fats. It also destroys many of the good essential fatty acids, antioxidants and other positive components present in virgin coconut oil. Coconut oil is 90% saturated fat (0% trans fat.) But because of its molecular structure it doesn’t really deserve to be lumped in with the ‘Bad’ saturated fats.To learn more about good and bad oils, I have posted an intro video here.

Many people who have allergies to nuts, eggs, and dairy have started cooking with coconut oil.
There is a growing number of vegans, who rely on it as a sweet vegetable fat that is solid at room temperature and can create flaky pie crusts, crumbly scones and fluffy cupcake icings, all without butter.

Olive oil is a wonderfully nourishing oil and is most beneficial when used in its raw form or processed at medium to low heat. Olive oil has a medium smoke point (visually starts to smoke) and so it’ s best to cook with it at a medium heat or lower to prevent oxidation, which breaks down the nutrients. Coconut oil is extremely stable so it is great to use when higher heat is necessary. Coconut oil has a long shelf life and doesn’t go rancid for 2-3 years or more, even when stored at room temperature.

ABC News did a report about Virgin coconut oil. If added to antibiotic therapy, may help relieve the symptoms of community-acquired pneumonia in kids faster than antibiotic therapy alone, a new study finds. (1)

Bruce Fife, CN, ND, author of The Coconut Oil Miracle states: ‘I discovered why coconut oil, in one form or another, was used in hospital and baby formulas and why it was recommended for those with digestive problems. I discovered it had many important nutritional and medical applications. I also learned that there was no truth in the belief that coconut oil causes or even contributes to heart disease. In fact, I learned that if you want to protect yourself from heart disease you should be using coconut oil.’(2)

At being the ripe ole age of over fifty, anything that even remotely resembles anti aging I will try! LOL. not really but I will use what nature provides. It has been said that coconut oil rejuvenates the skin and helps to prevent wrinkles. I have added coconut oil and vitamin E oil together and just started using it in the evenings. I will let you know how it works. So far I know that it makes my skin feel fabulous!

There are sooooooo many benefits to coconut oil, I have even heard of one guy who uses coconut oil as a natural lubricant and string cleaner for his guitar! What I am going to do is list some of the benefits below with links for you to read more about the subject of your choosing. I highly suggest using organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil.
